5 DIY PROJECTS WITH STUFF YOU HAVE AT HOME

We all want our homes to look amazing, but there isn’t always time to go on long crazy hunts to find the finishing touches that will make our homes feel perfect! With the rise of the DIY, we thought we would give you a few ideas of things you have lying around your home to make spruce it up with minimal effort.

Wind chimes are such a whimsical way to add character to any outdoor space, but they can be costly. Have way more fun to make them yourself! Take a bunch of old forks and spoons that maybe lost their usefulness, drill a small hole in them and attach them to strings. Decorate the strings however you want- either fun decorative strings, or spice them up with beads! Attach the strings to another decorative piece of silverware or a pot. Put it up and wait for the wind to blow.

2. Broom Painting 6df4e1e7f7809c6b57d50db98de60db4

Painted walls always add color and flavor to an otherwise boring white wall. Using an old broom to paint the paint onto the wall gives it an amazing lined texture which really adds to the depth and intensity of the color! Take any old broom in your house, do a coat of regular paint, then add on another coat with the broom. Straw brooms are preferable.

  1. Redo your mirrors!mirror

Mirrors are not only functional pieces, they also make great decorations! The only problem is they often come in boring frames that don’t express your personality! The fix is super easy! Grab any type of fabric that you like, and with a bit of super glue, give your mirror frame the personal touch it’s lacking. You can also paint it and decorate it with funky beads, shells, or whatever catches your eye. The frame is your canvas- get to work!

  1. Rope Hanging Shelves   DIY-HANGINGSHELF-1-864x561

Shelves are another piece of home furnishings that can serve as functional and decorative. One cool shelf to create in your home is the hanging rope shelf. Simply take a few pieces of thick rope, which you can spray paint or leave in its original brownish tone. Attach hooks to the shelving piece, tie them together, add a lovely plant and some books, and voila! You have a cool new hanging shelf.

  1. Jean Pocket Holder

None of us are strangers to cutting up our old jeans and making all sorts of cool clothing. But did you know you can also use your old jeans for home organization projects! Grab any piece of wood, paint it and add decorations etc. Find 2 pairs of your old jeans and cut out the jean pockets (the entire pocket). Super glue the pockets to the board and put it anywhere that it will come in useful. This is a cool, fun way to store pens, phone chargers, keys, and other small gadgets.

With a little bit of imagination you can turn anything into a cool home do it yourself project. Keep your mind open and let your creative mind wander. Happy creating!
